Following completion of his secondary education at a gymnasium, Winnibald attended Utrecht University studying History and Law. Whilst there, he represented the Netherlands in the Jessup Moot Court Competition in Washington, USA, graduating in International Law in 1978.
With a solid ‘banking' background, having worked at Houthoff Buruma, ABN AMRO Bank, Nauta Dutilh and DNIB, he is a leading expert in banking and securities law. He has, for many years, lectured on bank contracts and drafting contracts in the Continued Education Programme for Trainees of the Netherlands Bar Association and Radboud University Nijmegen. He co-authored and edited ‘Bank Security and other Credit Enhancement Methods' and has gained considerable experience in business law, intellectual property law and bankruptcy law. He is a member of the Specialist Association for Insolvency Law (INSOLAD), the Dutch Association of Collection Attorneys (VIA) and the Dutch Corporate Finance Association (DCFA). Winnibald is married and has 4 children. In his free time he enjoys rowing, and is presently learning Italian.
